Choosing a Trip:
We offer weekend and mid-week tours. Most tours have multiple departure dates. Read the tour descriptions for dates, price, ability and special notes. If you still can't decide, call us for more in-depth descriptions. Group size is limited to 20 guests on weekend tours, 28 guests on the 100/200 Challenge and 16 guests on 4, 5 & 6 day tours. Our average tour size in 2007 was 12 guests. Custom tours have no size limit.

Typical Schedule:
Weekend tours begin Friday with your arrival between 5 and 6:30 pm at your bed & breakfast; Mid-week tours begin either Sunday or Monday with your arrival between 5 and 6:30 pm at your bed & breakfast. Dinner is at 7 pm, followed by a brief welcome meeting. The Cycle Vermont Tour begins Sunday at 9:00 am. The tours end usually between noon and 3 pm at the same place they started. Most guests drive to our tours either from home or from an airport. You may always leave your vehicle at the inn where your tour begins and ends. There are showers available at the end of the tour. The Champlain Valley Tour has a shower cut-off time off 2:00pm on departure day.

Cycling Mileage & Route Notes:
Most tours offer at least two and usually three route options to choose from each day. You will notice a mileage range under each tour description. For example,
"20 to 60 mile options each day." This means that the longest route is 60 miles and the shortest route is 20 miles.

Road Conditions and Unpaved Roads:
Road conditions vary. We choose cycling routes for their safety, beauty and practicality. 95% of our routes are on paved roads. Some tours do have short stretches of unpaved road. These roads are generally stunningly beautiful, hard packed and able to be ridden on any bike. Occasionally these roads are grated and therefore not as hard packed. This is the exception and not the rule. For those on road bikes we recommend 700 x 25 tires or larger. The following tours DO NOT include any scheduled travel on dirt roads - Vermont 100/200 and Cycle Vermont.

Bicycle Rentals:
We offer 21 and 24 speed TREK Hybrid and Road Bicycles for rent. Each bike comes equipped with a gel seat, water bottle (with one water bottle cage), helmet, kickstand, map carrying case, rear rack and saddle bag. Please see each tour description for prices. Guests may bring their own clip-in pedal system, saddle and or helmet.

Tour Leaders:
Our tour leaders are the best in the industry. We are all trained in bike repair, basic First Aid and CPR, and Gourmet Camp Cuisine (for custom camping tours). We are a highly responsive team, focusing on your needs to provide a safe and unforgettable experience.

Covered Bridge

Cyclist Support:
A support vehicle/bike shop/fruit and snack bar will follow the routes throughout the day to offer you assistance, whenever possible. A second tour leader, carrying a complete set of tools and a first aid kit, will be cycling the routes. On tours with seven or fewer guests, there will be one tour leader.

Custom Group Tours:
We have cycled almost every road in Vermont and stayed at most bed & breakfasts. We can build custom tours around your budget and needs, whether you are two people or twenty; whether you want to go for a week or a weekend, whether you want to stay at an inn or camp out in one of Vermont’s pristine campgrounds (POMG provides tents, sleeping pads and full camp kitchen). Tours for corporate groups, families, friends and summer camps are our specialty.

Gift Certificates:
A POMG Bike Tour makes the perfect gift for any occasion,
graduation, birthdays, weddings, or for no reason at all. Purchase a gift
certificate and the recipient may choose the tour. Call us for details.

Children:
Well behaved children and young adults 10-to-18 years of age with adult supervision, are welcome on all tours. They must ride bicycles with 18 or more gears.

Photo Contest:
Bring your camera on a POMG Bike Tour and submit your best results to us. You may see your photo on the cover or inside our 2009 catalog.

Reservations:
Reservations are confirmed with your full payment for 2- and 3-day tours and a deposit for 4-, 5- and 6-day tours. We take deposits by check, Mastercard, Visa or money order. The balance must be paid by check or money order, 30 days prior to departure.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:
All cancellations are subject to a $100 administrative/cancellation fee per person. The remainder of your payment is refundable up to 30 days prior to departure. No refunds of any kind will be made for any reason after this deadline, including, but not limited to, acts of terrorism and war as well as family or personal emergencies. There is no refund for leaving a trip early or arriving late. Tours are not transferable from one person to another. You may switch your 2008 tour choice and or tour date 60 or more days prior to your originally scheduled tour departure on a space available basis for no fee. No tour switches are permitted less than 60 days prior to your scheduled departure. There are no exceptions for any reason.

Trip Cancellation Insurance:
We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to adequately cover yourself in the event of lost baggage, unforeseen emergencies or trip cancellation. Travel-Ex offers excellent coverage and may be reached at 1-800-228-9792. Tell the customer service agent that POMG's Location Number is: 46-6007. We suggest inquiring about the “Travel Lite" policy.

Trip Cancellations:
Occasionally (but rarely) we must cancel a tour. If we are unable to provide you with another tour that is satisfactory, all payments received by POMG Bike Tours will be refunded. We are not responsible for additional expenses such as non-refundable “advance purchase" airline tickets. Again, we strongly urge the purchase of travel insurance.

Solo Travelers:
For those choosing to travel solo with POMG, you have two rooming options. You may reserve your own room for an additional fee of $50 per night or you may choose to share a room with another guest of the same sex for no additional charge. If we are unable to match you with a roommate, we will give you your own room at no additional charge when possible. Call for availability.

Dietary Information:
Each inn has a different dining set-up. Some inns operate restaurants on their property; others serve dinner and breakfast just to us. Some meals are served family style, others off of a menu. For dinner, you will always have at least a three-course meal with vegetarian and meat entrée options. Each inn serves a full country breakfast with hot and cold options always available. Dietary restrictions are accommodated by all of our inns. Alcohol is never included. See your confirmation packet for further details.

These are just a few reasons to choose an active weekend or mid-week trip with POMG Bike Tours of Vermont.
