Tour Description:
Our new Stowe tour will invigorate you. Your home for the weekend is Ye Olde England Inne, an English-style Tudor with post and beam construction and a flag stone fireplace. Combined with old world charm are 21st century amenities including a pool and outdoor Jacuzzi for relaxing after a memorable day of cycling. We will dine at Mr. Pickwick’s Pub and Restaurant where farm-fresh local ingredients remind you of why you chose to cycle in Vermont. Rooms are all spacious and well-appointed.
Saturday, peaceful backroad farming communities such as Cambridge, Waterville and Hyde Park await. We will shuttle over Smuggler’s Notch (optional hill climb if you dare!) to begin our cycling day on the west side of the Green Mountains. From Jeffersonville, we’ll ride through Johnson, where you may visit the famous Johnson Woolen Mill and the Vermont Studio Art Center. We will return to Stowe via quiet backroads along the Lamoille River. After cycling you can take a dip in the pool, enjoy a cool beverage or explore the one-of-a-kind shops lining the village streets.
Sunday we ride north towards Morrisville, stopping along the way to visit Moss Glen Falls before being swept away by panoramic vistas atop Stagecoach Road. Opt for the longer mileage to Lake Elmore for a swim or a moderate hike up Mount Elmore to the fire tower and panoramic mountain views. Our longest option today heads as far north as Centerville, winding along roads lined with Maple and Beech trees, with a forgotten stone fence line interspersed.
Stowe, traditionally known as "the ski capital of the East" is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts in all seasons and an ideal weekend getaway.
